Trey has been
around the music
business in some
form or another
for most of his
life. Starting
at the tender
age of
7, he began
classical piano
training
followed, a few
years later, by
cello, joining a
youth orchestra
and making his
first stage
appearances
hidden in a huge
crowd of other
musicians. As
school
progressed he
learned and
played many
instruments;
trombone,
bagpipes,
violin, viola,
trumpet and many
others ad nauseum but
really it was
the draw of rock
music that made
him learn
guitar, bass and
keyboards.
The usual school
bands followed
without any
notable success
but a
collaboration
with his brother
saw their band (MANDANO)
in the studio
recording 2 of
Trey's songs.
The band was
named after one
of the
compositions
(THE LEGEND OF
THE SWORD OF
MANDANO) a
flight of fancy
into a
mysterious world
of wizards and
magic swords
created while
experimenting
with some, shall
we say, unusual
substances and
leave it at
that!
Following the
recordings, gigs
were arranged
but never
happened because
of Trey's career
in catering that
made getting the
appropriate time
off impossible
so he had to
hang up his live
aspirations and
stick to
song-writing and
playing for fun
to fullfil his
musical needs.
After a
successful
career in
catering and the
loss of both
parents in quick
succession, Trey
decided to
review his life
goals and commit
to music, first
as a solo
artist, then as
a duo with a
good friend,
Cherry B, doing
a Meatloaf and
Cher tribute
(LEATHER &
LACE), then
joining his
first covers
band (RIFFRAFF)
based in
Sheffield and no
not an AC/DC
tribute
(although some
of their songs
did feature in
the sets). Line
up changes also
brought about an
ill-fated name
change to
(TRESPASS) and
although the
name sucked the
band did not!
The name was
changed back
after a year of
venues still
advertising the
band by its
former
name. After 3 &
1/2 years Trey
was head-hunted
by Mark
Cockerill for
his band (ZERO
DAMAGE). This
band gigged even
more frequently
than RR and
maintained the
excellent
reputation
developed before
Trey's arrival
and the addition
of keyboards to
the guitar based
band.
Then royalty
called!!! The
Queen tribute
band (MONARCHY)
asked Trey to
join as a rather
fat "Freddie"
and though the
experience was
short-lived, it
was invaluable
in introducing
Trey to the
club/holiday
camp scene.
With this
experience under
his belt, Trey
decided to put
together a GLAM
ROCK tribute
band, getting a
previous band
member of ZD Jim
Peters on board
and after many
auditions and
rehearsals
recruited Andy
and Johnny, also
previous members
of ZD which by
now has folded.
GLAM! WAS
BORN!
Since December
2007 GLAM!
has rocked the
pubs, clubs and
holiday camps
across the UK
with a very
distinctive brand
of showmanship
and colour!
Trey has
recently
recorded a solo
album featuring
4 original songs
and 6 covers of
classic rock
songs done
acoustically
with only Trey
contributing
both musically
and vocally.
This album is
available on
request at gigs.
Since December
2009 Trey has
been writing and
recording
original songs
in the hope of
achieving his
goal of
releasing
material to the
general public
via record
companies and
download sites.
Trey has his own
website where
you can find
info on solo
work and
previous bands
and
incarnations.
